A new attempt to circumvent the 2nd Amendment has been proposed by 31 House Democrats. The Stop Online Ammunition Sales Act, sponsored by freshman Representative Bonnie Watson Coleman of New Jersey, would ban us from buying ammunition online, requiring all purchases to be made in person. The legislation would also require all ammo dealers to be licensed by the government and require bulk ammo purchase to be reported to the government.
The sponsors admit that the bill is aimed at preventing people from buying "unlimited" amounts of ammo over the Internet. Coleman stated that the bill would "better track and regulate the unlimited market for ammunition currently available on the Internet."
Rep. Frank Pallone, also of New Jersey, added that limiting ammo is one of the best ways to curb gun violence. “Reforming the unregulated online ammo market could prevent next gun tragedy.”
